How to debug own install.sh

Have you got any advice on how to debug my own install.sh files - I can't seem to get an "echo" working (ie. it won't output to stdout) - is there a toggle I'm missing on dotfiles_install/update? I can't find any redirection of stdout, so I'm not sure how it's happening.

(As well as debugging, there are times when I want to output messages to myself about the state of the install).

I can see the redirection now (as soon as I've asked for it) in the run() function

Which helps - Also having read this (https://stackoverflow.com/questions/55785682/in-bash-how-to-print-to-stdout-when-it-s-already-redirected) I realise that maybe I should be writing to stderr rather than stdout...

However still not sure how to debug or otherwise show messages from my install.sh scripts. Any pointers welcome
