ESP32 S3 Board vs BPI leaf S3

Hi! I found this project and it is very cool!!!
I'm planning to build my pedalino midi controller and I have a question.
Could I use any ESP32-S3 board or I have to buy only the BPI leaf S3?
Could I use an ESP32-S3 N16R8 from Aliexpress? It's more simple option for shipping and buy.

Any ESP32-S3 can work but it is not tested by me and my require code changes which is possible up to version 3.5.0.
From version 4.0 source code is not anymore open source.
To simplify the display assembly I suggest to use a LilyGo T-Display S3 board.
