Phase 1: Data Acquisition & Setup (✅ Completed)

• Choose the bounding box

• Get fish data (NOAA) for Fall (Subset to 2024)

• Get fish data (NOAA) for Spring (Subset to 2024)

• Get coordinates for sampling sites (Spring & Fall)

• Filter out invertebrate species (Focus on Fish)

Phase 2: Data Exploration & Decisions (✅ Completed)

• Analyze species abundance (Accumulation curves)

• Define "Top 10" unified species list for analysis

• Explore fish size data / small fish info?

  Cancelled. Length is not a reliable proxy for age without species-specific validation. Scope reduced for this week.

Phase 3: Matrices Construction (✅ Completed)

Fish abundance Matrix:

• Recalculate Coordinates: Replace the current "start" coordinates with the tow midpoints (mean of start + end latitudes/longitudes) in the fall dataset
• Add a "Date" column for each station in the fall dataset to facilitate matching catch data with satellite environmental datasets.
• Get the final Species Abundance Matrix (Top 10 species)
• Spring

• Get PACE/Satellite data (MOANA output: Chl-a, SST, Salinity) matching station coordinates
• Plot PACE data

Biological Traits Matrix:

• Get fish traits (Diet Breadth, Mouth Position, etc.) @josefinacuestan and @Mai7o

Phase 4: Final Project Documentation

• Polish repo README
• Work on Friday's presentation
• Consolidate the current scattered trawl data cleaning and wrangling scripts into a single, polished "master script"/.md
