We’re trialling Discussions as a possible replacement for the gramps-devel mailing list as our primary communication method for developers.

We hope that you:

• Ask questions related to Gramps development and our developer policies.
• Share ideas for new features.
• Discuss designs before coding to prevent wasted effort.
• Engage with other developers.
• Welcome others and are open-minded. Remember that this is a community we build together 💪.

If this trial is successful then Discussions will be used instead of posting to the mailing list.

Is this intended to replace GEPS or as a complement? I have a substantial change I'd like to propose whether the details belong in a discussion or whether to start a GEP for it?

We will still keep GEPS for large changes. They are useful to summarise design options and decisions that result from our discussions.

You are probably best starting a discussion here or on the gramps-devel mailing list. We can then advise if creating a GEP is necessary.
