with function "merge tree - skip" i miss the possibility to connect the two involved trees.
suggested enhancement:
the link will be defined and established via an identical person in both trees. The id of this person is substituted in one of the tree-parts with the one inside the other tree.
- Before the mergeing do:
- globally ensure all tag-id are unique
- select/define the identical person inside both trees
- with both trees optionally deselect/delete families of this person, which will be supplied by the other tree (this may lead to unconnected tree parts and douplicates in the resulting merged file)
-
Copy both trees into a new single datafile
-
The identical person now has two id values. Substitute one ID number with the other to have only a single one for this person.
The other option “merge - search duplicates" with non small trees leads to a lot of asked choices with possible erraneous selections and a lot of duplicated tags (like “Birth“, "Note" )
