EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

This Act amends the Quantity Surveyors (Registration, etc.) Act, Cap. Q1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 to ensure that crime is committed based on knowledge not belief and to ensure compliance through enhance penalty.

QUANTITY SURVEYORS (REGISTRATION, ETC) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2016

An Act to amend the Quantity Surveyors (Registration, etc.) Act, Cap. Q1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 to ensure that crime is committed based on knowledge not belief and to ensure compliance through enhance penalty; and for related matters.

[20TH DECEMBER, 2016]                    Commencement.

ENACTED by the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria—

Amendment of Cap. Q1 LFN, 2004.

  1. The Quantity Surveyors (Registration, Etc.) Act Cap. Q1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (in this Act referred to as “the Principal Act”) is amended as set out in this Act.

Amendment of section 15.

  1. (a) Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended –

(a) [in subsection (3) (a)] by substituting the expression "believes" in line 1 with the expression "knows"; and

(b) [in subsection (5)] by substituting the expression "N1000" in line 3 with the expression "N500,000".

Citation

  1. This Act may be cited as the Quantity Surveyors (Registration, etc.) (Amendment) Act 2016.
