Missing license?

Hi! I’ve forked Pilot to add a basic drum machine channel, and I found the drum sounds in Enfer to be perfect (since they all have the same names/roles it’s easy to jump between kits and still get roughly the same type of sounds).

But since Enfer doesn’t have a license, I’m unsure if I can use the sounds (or at least push my changes to Github). Do you plan to add a license to Enfer?

Excellent question, I asked DLL this less than a month ago. I'll let them clarify this officially, but the answer was that the samples in Enfer were a mixed bags of samples collected over the years, some being more than 15 years old. And they had no idea what the license might have been.
So my own opinion is that @spitlo you shuold be free to do whatever you want from them, especially if you add a tiny bit of FX on top so that they are not exactly the same.
You shouldn't be blamed by DLL, at least ^^

@neauoire, maybe that would be a good move to make sure you're not bothered by such licencing matter anymore by treating every sample with a little bit of FX (e.g. tape distorsion) so that they are completely unique and can't be claimed by RIAA and other vultures purge the git from the old ones and put the effected ones adding a DWTFYW licence or something alike

I can take care of the first part, if you want some help on this.

Honestly, Enfer shouldn't be used as a soundbank, but instead put your own samples in it, that's what I built it for.
But if you use the samples and record them, they will have a different signature already from going through ToneJS and won't be traceable, if that is what worries you. But if you can, make your own kits.

I mostly wanted a couple of kits to get started with a PoC drum machine for my Pilot fork, and I liked the sounds in Enfer and how they were arranged. I’ve disclosed the source of the files in the README and stated my ambition to replace them eventually, but if you don’t want me to use the samples in the repo, that’s totally cool, I’ll take it down.
