Describe the feature

When entities are made available for Voice Assistant, it would be good to have a ‘read-only’ option, e.g. for critical switches whose status should be retrieved but which should not be ‘accidentally’ switched on or off by the voice assistant under any circumstances. Until now, an additional template or helper has always had to be created in order to make only the status available.

This option would make the use of voice assistants safer and the provision of entities easier.

I would love a read-only option for Voice Assistant entities.
But even better: granular permissions-e.g., allowing activation (arm alarm) while blocking deactivation.

Use case:

• Let the assistant arm my alarm, but not disarm it.

This eliminates workarounds (helpers/templates) and boosts security and flexibility.
