At LatinR2025, someone asked whether we would consider translating some of our R Contributor materials. Specifically we could consider translating:
- R Dev Guide
- Docs for R Dev Container
- R Contributor Website
This would particularly make sense for communities that have near complete translations of errors, messages and warnings in base R, but people are still keen to contribute!
We can do this by adding the markdown files to Weblate for translation (https://docs.weblate.org/en/latest/formats/markdown.html) and using babelquarto to create the multilingual website.
We might also adopt rOpensci's workflow for automated translation and review.
