No marked lanes and one way

So recently I've seen a number of streets that do not have lane markings, therefore I answer no on the quest. Hoewer there is either a "wrong way" sign or an arrow painted on the road.

As I answer no for the lane marking quest it does not ask me if it's oneway. I think OSM and therefore StreetComplete assumes all roads unless specified at oneway=no. This is almost always correct I think. But it does mean there are some roads that SC doesn't permit to contribute this one way information.

I've also tried to answer yes but then it doesn't allow me to only say one lane in one direction as the quest requires to add at least one lane in both directions. I suppose this is by design as saying the road has marked lanes is wrong if there is no paint on both sides of the road.

As far as I understand the app does show the correct lane option for rods that are already tagged in OSM as oneway=yes.

In my opinion, in the three button menu it should show an option to tag as no marked lanes and one way at the same time when answering the "Does this road have marked lanes?" quest.

StreetComplete asks whether road is oneway only in quite specific cases.

And it seems that as side effect to splitting this quest in parts ability to spot missing oneway=yes was lost. I do not see way to recover it in SC, though SCEE likely is caable of it with its custom overlays.

I guess that one may look at cycleway overlay, when selectable option will differ depending on whether road is oneway or not?

Whops, forgot the most obvious one! Map style shows oneway arrows for oneway roads!

If you see oneway road without them, then it is worth switching to say Vespucci and editing road there. Or leaving note at least.

Note that map data lags a bit, so if road was just marked as oneway it will not appear there.

I guess that it is mark against an overlay idea.

Okay, I can't remember ever seing this arrow on SC. I'll try to look out for it then and maybe add a note. TBH, as much as I understand that I can use another app, I don't want to. I already use OsmAnd (with the aerial view) to add little nodes because I find that easier than with the "thing" or "places" overlay on SC as on SC it isn't allways easy I find to put a tree, bench, or foodtruck (eg.) in the correct spot. I tried Vespucci a few years back and found it too complexe for me, also.

TBH, as much as I understand that I can use another app, I don't want to.

Understandable. Perhaps a solution half way there might be trying out SCEE (StreetComplete "Expert edition" fork -- but don't be frightened by its name: by default, it looks and works almost exactly like regular StreetComplete; it is only when you start enabling its extra functionality in settings that it starts to differ significantly).

One of the things it offers are custom overlays, which would allow you to see and set oneway where needed.

There exist OneWay quest in StreetComplete, but it depends on on physical measured width=* being tagged.

So, you should enable quest "How wide is the road here?" (which is disabled by default, as it requires you either carrying a measuring device with yourself while mapping, or enabling non-FOSS AR-measurements on your phone via additional app). If you answer that quest and road is not wide enough, you should be asked to answer whether it is oneway street.

Okay, my phone does't have the AR-measurement feature unfortunetaly as I remember seeing there was a pretty cool companion app to use that. I've got that quest disabled therefore as I am not going to measure the road with a tape or just guess it. Thanks for mentionning it as it could be usefull information for others and I better understand SC's logic.

So what if instead of that we either changed the and into or and ask the marked lanes quest before the oneway quest ?
Of course I understand this might lead to spam as if all marked_lanes=no get a oneway=no then that's basically a great majority of non marked laned roads, I suppose.

Therefore I still think adding the option in the little exta menu to say it's oneway might be better. I find @matkoniecz's idea of an overlay I bit much to be honest and could also lead to spam if a user decides to add oneway=no to all roads if they appear red for a lack of tag. I assume they would be red based on the surface and lit overlays showing all roads without data as red.

Similar things have been suggested in the past; and while we have "Uh..." menu for special answers, IIRC those unrelated answers were rejected because they do not respond to the question (i.e. it is non-sensical to answer "Does this road have painted lanes?" with "It's oneway road" -- it might be correct, but that is not what was being asked.

Not necessarily. E.g. look at lit overlay logic here (esp. if (isNotSetButThatsOkay) OverlayColor.Invisible), so that functionality is often used in overlays to avoid such spam (while stile allowing users to specify tags where they deem it useful).

Yeah, I'd guess that would be the major concern there. See quest guidelines for details about various blockers for quests. But if you have an idea how to ask more often for oneway but in a way which would not be spammy / taxing for users, that might be implemented (if deemed noticeably more useful than problematic, of course).
